Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Filter Maintenance

A. Air filter maintenance
a. The filter element should be maintained once a week. Take out the filter element, and then use the 0.2 to 0.4Mpa compressed air to blow away the dust on the filter element surface. Utilize clean cloth to wipe up the dirt on the inner wall of the air filter shell. After that, install the filter element. When installing, the sealing ring should be tightly fit to the air filter housing.
b. Normally, the filter element should be replaced per 1,000 to 1,500 hours. When applied to the hostile environment, such as mines, ceramics factory, cotton mill, etc., it is recommended to be replaced per 500 hours.
c. When cleaning or replacing the filter element, avoid foreign matters getting into the inlet valve.
d. You should frequently inspect whether there is any damage or deformation of extension pipe. Also, you have to check whether the joint is loose or not. If any above said problem exists, then you have to timely repair or replace those parts.

B. Oil Filter Replacement
a. You need to change new oil filter with the dedicated wrench, for the new air compressor which has been operated for 500 hours. Prior to the installation of the new filter, it is much better to add the screw oil, and then screw the holder by hand to seal the filter element.
b. It is recommended that the filter element should be replaced per 1,500 to 2,000 hours. When you change the engine oil, you should also change the filter element. The replacement cycle should be shortened, if the air filter is applied in the severe application environment.
c. The filter element is forbidden to be used longer than its service life. Otherwise, it will be seriously blocked. The bypass valve will automatically open once the differential pressure is beyond the maximum bearing capacity of the valve. Under such condition, impurities will get into the engine along with the oil, thus resulting in serious damage.

C. Air Oil Separator Replacement
a. An air oil separator removes the lubricating oil from the compressed air. Under the normal operation, its service life is of 3,000 hours or so, which will be influenced by the lubricating oil quality and filter fineness. In the abominable application environment, the maintenance cycle should be shortened. Moreover, a pre air filter may be needed to ensure the normal operation of the air compressor in such case.
b. When the air oil separator is due or the differential pressure exceeds 0.12Mpa, you should replace the separator.
